* Who are you?
See this page.
* Do you have any previous experience in journalism?
No. I guess it shows! I write news in the way I would want to read it. That way at least I understand my target audience well!
* Can I send a story?
Yes you can. Use the contact form. Make sure you select the right category. We almost never run any story that is already not mainstream, so if you are the PR person trying to push your world changing product that nobody is still talking about, lets not waste each other's time.
* What kind of stories do you run?
Short answer, the really important ones. Long answer: anything that significant impact on future turn of events, a disruptive innovation that breaks current norms and/or business models, an imminent or potential danger or a news analysis that summarises the current situation around a news item. The story has to meet one or more of the above criteria. In addition we typically publish from credible sources and avoid rumours.
* Who gets to decide if a story is important enough to be published on Decanews?
I do. I might not be the best judge but the judgement is consistent and works better than a committee.
* How to I subscribe to Decanews?
You can subscribe using this RSS feed. If you dont know what RSS feed is and how to subscribe to them, you can google for those phrases. But that case, most of the news on Decanews will probably not be relevant to you.
* How can I participate in Decanews?
Currently you can comment on stories and discuss them. You also get to rate comments from other users. You gain karma if your comment is rated 'up' and you lose karma if your comment is rated 'down'. You can see your karma on your account page. We have not figured out a way to use your karma but the idea is to know who the most valuable members of the community are and then figure out a way to reward them.
